Canada 15 0 Gift Set

Anniversaries are a cause for celebration; not only because they represent important points during a timeline, but because of the fact that, often enough, the lives of all things are riddled with obstacles and problems. That being said, 2017 marks the 150th anniversary of Canada; a country that has countless symbols that are synonymous with its name.

Therefore, what better way to commemorate its longevity as one of the most prosperous countries in the world than with Canada 150 coins? The Royal Canadian Mint has made sure to allow citizens and those who are fond of Canadian history to experience the country’s icons in the form of an inspirational collage featured on 1,500 coins.

Each of the Canada 150 coins will boast classic images; encompassing everything from the inukshuk that symbolizes the spirit of the North to Atlantic Canada’s maritime emblems to the tall mountains of the western part of the country, the coins reflect the true Canadian experience from coast to coast and throughout the seasons.

As mentioned, the mintage will only be 1,500 coins, which makes each and every piece of this limited edition Royal Canadian Mint artwork a highly-valuable addition to any serious coin collection – not to mention collections with a Canadian theme. Furthermore, the large diameter of the coins (65 mm) is nothing short of a canvas that features some of the most intricate details around.

As if that wasn’t enough, each coin is masterfully crafted from 5 oz. of 99.99% pure silver. The front features a red maple leaf (what else?) comprised of many miniature symbols of Canadian culture, including salmon, bears, birds, a hockey stick, the CN Tower and more. The back boasts the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the engraved word “CANADA,” the official Canada 150 privy mark and the commemorative dates “1867 – 2017.”

The coins’ design is a work of art in its own right; artist Tami Mayrand’ notion of what it means to be Canadian has truly come together in the form of a plethora of engraved icons that combine with each other to build a silhouette that is widely regarded as a true symbol of Canada: the maple leaf.

However, the design is more than just intricate – the maple leaf encapsulates a wide array of other, equally and lesser known symbols of the country, each of which represents the nation’s flora and fauna, geography, agriculture, forests, different cultural traditions, coasts, aeronautic industry and the great outdoors. It is safe to say that each of the Canada 150 coins will remind the public of what an honor it is to be profoundly Canadian.
